The Master Orb is broken up into five different elements that pertain to differing passive bonuses that you can mix and match on your character. Each vocation has their own separate Master Orb set, so you can set separate jewels that enhance your vocation's strengths or bolster its weaknesses, if you so choose.

The higher the Master Orb's level, the more abilities that can be allocated at a time. You can see the Master Orb's current level using the Master Orb command or with the '''Stats''' menu.
The jewels that you have obtained will show up at the top of the list under each of these elements. Each time you activate a jewel, it costs a certain number of your total points for that element. A jewel can be ranked up to a maximum of 6, which will allocate more points the higher you rank it up. You can swap jewels as you please, so don't worry about having to be locked into a choice. An element can have a maximum of 12 jewels set at once, so even if you purposefully leave multiple jewels at rank 1 to take advantage of their lower point costs, you can only use 12 at one time. ▼

==Obtaining Jewels==

So how do you obtain jewels? Once you unlock the master orb, applicable monsters will be able to start dropping them. If you navigate to an orb you haven't obtained yet on the list and press the button next to Examine/くわしくみる, you can see a list of monsters that can drop it. Once you obtain a jewel, you can have it appraised at a Master NPC, which are located in most towns. You can find them by looking for a yellow orb icon on the minimap, and they'll be dressed in black robes. They will appraise any jewels you have. If it's a new jewel, the ability will be permanently unlocked. If it's a duplicate jewel, you'll receive Jewel Points which can be exchanged for helpful items.
After speaking with a Master NPC and unlocking the Master Orb command, monsters will begin dropping jewels. Specific jewels drop from specific monsters, so you can refer to the list below to find any jewels you're looking for. You can also highlight a jewel in your jewel list and press the '''Examine''' button, which will show which monsters drop the jewel (assuming you've encountered the monster at least once)
Just obtaining the jewels aren't enough, so you'll have to bring them to an aforementioned Master NPC and have them '''appraised'''. Once appraised, you'll permanently unlock the ability it contains for all vocations. You'll also earn '''Jewel Points''' which can be exchanged with Master NPCs for some helpful items. Obtaining and appraising jewels with duplicate abilities will just award you with Jewel Points.
Jewels have a naturally low drop rate, so farming a specific monster for a jewel you want is not always ideal. There are a few ways to make this process a little less tedious:
