A strange orb that will receive any Experience Points you receive and level up alongside you. The Master Orb has its own leveling system, so don't worry about being stuck in one class while using it. Think of it as a cumulative total level. By using its abilities wisely, you'll be able to push yourself to further heights.
NOTE: The Master Orb is not available to trial players!
Summary
The Master Orb can be obtained from any Innkeeper after you clear version 1's final boss fight and offers a secondary way to increase and manage your character's power. By appraising various Elemental Jewels you find after defeating select foes, the jewel will become a skill you can 'Rank Up' using your Master Orb. You can view which monsters drop the necessary jewel by looking at a jewel's details in the master orb menu.
How it Works
The Master Orb is broken up into five different elements that pertain to differing passive bonuses that you can mix and match on your character. Each vocation has their own separate Master Orb set, so you can set separate jewels that enhance your vocation's strengths or bolster its weaknesses, if you so choose.
The jewels that you have obtained will show up at the top of the list under each of these elements. Each time you activate a jewel, it costs a certain number of your total points for that element. A jewel can be ranked up to a maximum of 6, which will allocate more points the higher you rank it up. You can swap jewels as you please, so don't worry about having to be locked into a choice. An element can have a maximum of 12 jewels set at once, so even if you purposefully leave multiple jewels at rank 1 to take advantage of their lower point costs, you can only use 12 at one time.
Obtaining Jewels
So how do you obtain jewels? Once you unlock the master orb, applicable monsters will be able to start dropping them. If you navigate to an orb you haven't obtained yet on the list and press the button next to Examine/くわしくみる, you can see a list of monsters that can drop it. Once you obtain a jewel, you can have it appraised at a Master NPC, which are located in most towns. You can find them by looking for a yellow orb icon on the minimap, and they'll be dressed in black robes. They will appraise any jewels you have. If it's a new jewel, the ability will be permanently unlocked. If it's a duplicate jewel, you'll receive Jewel Points which can be exchanged for helpful items.
