Line 1:
Monster scouting allows you to scout specific monsters out in the world to join your party. After unlocking the MON or ITM vocations, you will be able to scout various types of monsters.

To scout a monster, you must first read its corresponding Scout Book. Most books are available via the shop inside any Monster Tavern, and you only need to read a book once to permanently learn it. Once learned, you must find the exact monster in the overworld that you wish to scout. (For example, if you wish to scout a Slime, it will not work if you try scouting a She-Slime.) Once you find the desired monster, you must use and successfully hit with the Scout Strike skill at least once against the monster. (It doesn't matter if it is the killing blow or not.) Once the battle ends, there is a chance the monster will stay behind. Talking to them will give you the option for them to join your party.

If your current party has an open slot, they will join your current party. Otherwise, they will be sent to the Monster Tavern to be stored and retrieved later. Note that you can have a maximum of 24 monsters stored in the Monster Tavern at a time.

Below is a table on which monsters can be scouted, how their Scout Books can be obtained, and which vocation you must be in order to scout them.

Monster Happiness
When a monster is first scouted, their Happiness level will be at 0. Happiness dictates how attached your monster is to you. A monster can have a maximum of 300 Happiness.

When using monsters in your party, you must be the associated monster vocation for them to be able to join, unless their Happiness level is at 100 or above. Once it is, they can be brought along in your party as any vocation.

Monster Happiness can be increased in two ways:

* Fighting enemies while your monster is active (not standby). After the battle ends, there is a chance their Happiness level will rise. (Higher level enemies have a higher chance of raising it.) This chance is considerably lower above 100 Happiness.
* Feeding your monster in the Monster Farm in the DQX Companion App. Friends and teammates can feed your monster as well, possibly speeding up this process considerably. This is by far the fastest way to increase Happiness.

At certain Happiness level thresholds, monsters will gain a few bonuses:

* 100 - Can be brought along with any vocation.
* 200 - Gains an additional 5 skill points to use.
* 300 - Gains an additional 5 skill points to use.

Monster Reincarnation
Monsters have a maximum level of 50 and this cap and, unlike players, cannot be raised. However, monsters have the ability to reincarnate once they hit this cap. To reincarnate, speak to any Monster Manager NPC located in a Monster Tavern. When reincarnating, their level will be reset to 1, and their reincarnation counter will increment by one. You'll know how many reincarnations a monster has based on the plus sign next to their level (for example, a monster with 50+3 as their level means they've reincarnated three times.) The current maximum number of reincarnations a monster can have is 15. This number may increase in future updates.

Each reincarnation increases your monster's overall stats slightly, as well as conferring the bonuses listed below. In addition, each reincarnation will give you a Reincarnite, a special crafting material used to create monster fashion accessories.
